Filed under: PPC Classroom;Disclaimer: This lesson is not from PPC Classroom 2 advanced Coaching, check it out here
Lesson 1: What is PPC
PPC stands for Pay per click. It is a method of marketing where business or marketers advertise on search engines or websites and pay only when somebody clicks on there ad. There are various companies that offer this service but the big 3 companies are
Google: Google has there adwords program and is the biggest player in this field.
Yahoo: Yahoo provides PPC through Yahoo Search Marketing. yahoo pioneered PPC Model of advertising, but today it is way behind Google, none the less, its is still very important for us Marketers.
MSN: MSN has its own ad center
Advantages of PPC
1. Immediate: PPC is very different from traditional media advertising like, newspapers, magazines, TV etc as it is immediate. You can effectively start running a campaign in 5 minutes after logging into your Google adwords account.
2. Less expensive: Remember when I say less expensive, its less expensive as compared to advertising on TV or radio or magazines, But the cost of PPC is rising and you have to learn new skills and test and track to keep your cost down. We ll discuss about that in a later post.
3. Testing and Tracking: It is very difficult to test in traditional advertising that which of your ads on TV or Radio are bringing sales in for you, but in PPC you can presicely test what ad brought you the sale and then you can effectively calculate Cost-Per-sale or Cost-per-Customer.
4. Very Targeted: PPC is very Targeted as compared to traditional media as your ad is displayed only when somebody searches for something that you are offering. an example of PPC is as follows

In the above example wjen somebody searches for “High definition HDTV”, you get various results on Google, including Natural listings and Sponsored listings. We are here interested in Sponsored listings as these are PPC Ads5 Only Pay for results: In PPC you only pay when somebody clicks at your ad as compared to traditional media, you have to pay regardless whether somebody looks at your ad or not.
